She doesn't. Or at least she doesn't much of the time.
This photo probably won't be special to anyone but me. But to me, it's perfect. What you see here is the creativity and cleverness of my eldest child, who is 6. That table, when it was purchased from Ikea a few years ago, was white. My husband and I had the option to buy it in black, but we went with white because we hoped one day it would serve as a canvas of sorts. (As you can see, it has.) My daughter has taken to pushing this table across the floor of her room to her closet, where she climbs on top of it to access the upper level of her closet, where her dance recital costumes hang. Some days, she wants to dress up, but she doesn't want to ask for help; she wants to do it herself. Without this photo, I might have forgotten this little maneuver of hers. But now... now it's part of our family's legacy.
