I don't know about you, but a few years ago, I was taking fairly uninspiring pictures of my kids. I really, really, really wanted the photos to come out spectacularly, but, well, for one reason or another, they didn't. They were legit photos. I mean, I took a picture of my child, either looking at me or doing something, but I wasn't getting any great feelings when I later looked at the pictures. And that's what I wanted: not just a representation of what was happening. I wanted the feeling that went with it.
I really wanted to to improve the photos I took of my kids. And today, I figure I'm probably not alone. Who doesn't want great photos of their family and children?
So I started experimenting with different photography tricks and camera angles, and I started to completely change the way I approached taking pictures.
And what happened was pretty amazing. I immediately started to love the photos. I started getting so many compliments on the photos I took, not only of my children but the children of families who hire me to photograph them.
Since I know I'm not alone in this desire, I've put together a short list of easy tips to improve your photography, and you can start immediately. Regardless of what kind of camera or smartphone you're using, you can start taking better photos today.
